That last track is such a beautiful Michel Legrand composition. Everyone loves the Bill Evans version but it feels rare to me to hear a vocal cover these days (although I've got the Ian Shaw one as well). Is that just me?
Love the words in that song, both for literal and metaphorical meanings. At times like this, you really do want to believe that things move in cycles and rebirth is possible.

Sure has been a strange and unnerving week, with the sense of eighty years of underlying security beginning to rapidly crumble apart. But imagine being Ukrainian. Or even a rational American.
It all ought to make music irrelevant, really. But music like this has always felt like an implicit argument for being a better kind of human being than some of the ones that have been hijacking our screen time lately.

Yes, our disaster is of course rippling out in awful ways. And yes, the rumbles of our protest are becoming louder. A shitstorm chosen by so sadly many. Maybe the very open way they are doing these things will galvanize effective counteraction.
