CDC Part I

I love coming across old mixtapes and CD-Rs.

This one was a two-part mix made for a sort of musical pen-pal/exchange I joined in the summer of 2001. My turn had come and I'd made 2x20 CD-Rs, printed artwork, etc. but then the world went to shit and the plot was lost. It's a slightly incoherent mess as was the state of the mind of the compiler at the time. At best, it's an Audiogalaxy (R.I.P.) fever dream.

Sort of appropriate that this appeared out of the ether at this juncture. Even weirder that I titled the mixes "CDC #1/#2" then (though I think it stood for "CD Club" not... well, you know).

Part I: Versus, Arthur Russell, a great George Harrison demo, The Residents, Jim O'Rourke, Nicolette Larson, Freda Payne, A.R. Kane, Björk, The dB's and more. At one point, some digital artifacts starts to present in the audio as the CD-R has started to decay, but it kind of adds to the mood. Nothing is forever.
