A friend of mine who is a Little Records listener texted me last night (and I'm paraphrasing) — "I'm exhausted from all this shit. I'm getting drunk!" — and gave me the idea for a podcast featuring some of the songs from this era that feature alcohol as a possible solution. I skipped one of the most popular, The Housemartins' "Happy Hour", because it's mostly about bitching about having to be out with your boss after work. I'm after some downright LET'S GET SHITFACED—THE WORLD SUCKS! vibes, so The Pogues are the best place to start. We'll hear a couple from them, plus tunes from Giant Sand, The Replacements, Nikki Sudden, The Damned, Mudhoney, Palace Brothers, Fear, The Jayhawks, Black Flag, Mojo Nixon, X, & The Creepers.
