Bowie was a big part of musical 'growing up', the first thing of his I bought was 'Lodger'...it was amazing & I dived into the back catalogue with glee. It was the punk wars, then the mod revival & new wave oddities abounded, I loved all that but somehow Dave always managed to remain valid. I even liked 'Lets Dance' - the pop sheen and avant garde edge - excellent. We did fall out around 'Tonight' but I always kept one eye on his output & was pleased to hear his renaissance releases in '00s. I was shocked and saddened to heart about his passing on Radio 4 when I woke up on 'that' morning. I read all the articles, watched the tributes and decided I had to mark it somehow myself too. Although I'd never met him, Dave had been a pal. His Berlin trilogy had helped me revise for my O grades for example. So I did a live mix at Eclectic Mud and this was the practice - it's rough but heartfelt. Bowie was one of the artists I thought of as immortal and indestructible - his influence & music is.
