Produced by Nancy Klein, this broadcast covers the official launch of the University of the 3rd Age in Limerick. U3A is for older people who want to stay intellectually active and social through attending lectures, going on field trips, and doing a variety of locally-run activities with other like-minded people in their later years. The broadcast also covers the many functions of AgeAction in Ireland, an organization that assists older people in a variety of ways including through helping establish U3As. Studies have shown that keeping engaged intellectually and socially can help prevent the onset of dementia.
