Appropriation

The idea of musical appropriation has been around for many years. Khalil Sihha mixes sounds from different cultures and combines them in a unique way to create something totally new and exciting. One of the most popular forms of modern musical appropriation is the mix of world music and tribal techno.

For starters, world music takes from traditional genres such as Latin American, African, and Eastern European musics. These sounds are combined with contemporary beats and electronic elements, such as synths and drum machines. The result is a sound that is both classic and modern at the same time.

Tribal techno consists of traditional tribal music combined with techno beats and synths. The traditional elements are usually acoustic instruments such as drums, flutes, and various other ethnic instruments. This is blended together with electronic sounds to create a contemporary sound that pays homage to both genres.
