Lights Out Phoenix

One of my favorite things in life is a good slow jam. Slow jams have always been a thing especially since doowop and soul have ruled for many years. But the kind of slow jam I'm talking about are the ones created in the 80's, 90's and even early 00's. Before Clear Channel owned the airwaves and before every radio station was playing the same songs Phoenix had an 'urban' radio station called Power 92.3. If you tuned in late at night you'd catch Melissa the Midnight Mamacita dominating the airwaves with old and new slow jams as well as radio dedications. I've met so many women while out playing and playing that have confessed how much of their taste was shaped by that radio show. Here is a little snippet of many of the songs I remember hearing on that very show. This mix was made from my record collection so it;s just me, my turntables, and a mixer. I intend for this to be a series so I suppose here's part 1. Hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making it!
