Melmoth: Dark Ambient

Hello there,

My work on Mixcloud is centred around bringing joy to students and working professionals by providing an inspiring atmosphere full of groovy beats. However, with this post I should like to tell you about the mix-series: 'Melmoth: Dark Ambient' which at first glance may seem like an oddball.

‘Melmoth: Dark Ambient’ is all about dark ambient music or soundscapes of the darker kind.

The name ‘Melmoth’ is taken from Charles Robert Maturin’s 1820 novel ‘Melmoth the Wanderer’ which is one of the great and possibly the last of the Gothic romances.

Obviously, this series is not for everyone but if you are a student working on Romanticism or a working professional with an affinity for Gothic literature this might be something for you.

The mix series will tell the tale of the wanderer that inhabits some of us. It will tell the tale of the Romantic that is looking for something – something that is not clearly defined yet something that cannot be ignored.

Thus ‘Melmoth: Dark Ambient’ will to some be a familiar voice. It will be a friend to those of you who spend some of your time in the company of shadows and it will serve as a reminder that Romanticism is all about dichotomies.

In this light ‘Melmoth: Dark Ambient’ will help you realise that although you may see yourself as a lonely wanderer which is perfectly OK it is likewise perfectly all right to take a vacation from this singular point of view every now and then to celebrate life with an hour or two of Disco, House, Prog. House, Liquid DnB, Techno or simply chill in the sun with a cold drink enjoying a dose of Chillout music or Downtempo.

Cheers

Jan
