The late sixties was a time of musical cross-pollination. A time where rock bands bored with 3 chords started exploring their instruments and the way they approached music, some incorporating elements of jazz and experimenting with extended free form jams. Jazz musicians were also feeling the urge to move their music forward and were looking toward rock 'n' roll, with it's heavy back beat rhythms and electric instrumentation, as one possible way. It is the jazz rock that spawned from these flirtations with musical cross-pollination that the Jazz Amnesty Sound System explore today.
