For this mix the Jazz Amnesty Sound System have skimmed off a discerning selection to highlight the diversity that Impulse! has to offer. From the silky tones of Johnny Hartman to the microtonal blues of Emil Richards, expansive orchestrations from Alice Coltrane to the happening gypsy guitar work of Gabor Szabo, a theremin solo from Yusef Lateef to a pairing of jazz royalty (Duke Ellington and Coleman Hawkins); it's all here plus the prerequisite offering of beauty from John Coltrane.
