Cachao and the Danzón were born for each other, for it would be impossible to narrate the story of the centenial dance without dedicating a good part of it to the work develeped by this gentleman, the most famous of all Cuban contrabassists, composer and orchestra arranger of innumerable danzones.
Superdanzones is a collection of his musical ideas amply developed and mature, ten danzones that come dangerously close to perfection.
This CD brings about new confirmation to demonstrate Israel (Cachao) López’ stature, not only on danzoneros grounds, but through Cuban music of all times.

I have always loved Danzones, and the great Cachao composed many.
As a child it took great patience on my part to listen and learn danzones. From Cachao to La Aragon. The thrill for me was in waiting for the band to rip into the later swinging part of the danzon. I would imagine it was a treat for dancers too. Our elders really knew how to dance this music con tremendo Cache! Saludos JR.
