ORI BATÁ is a spectacular recording of modern arrangements based on Cuban Yoruba music. It highly respects the songs of ORO CANTADO with its entire sequence of events and does not alter the religious concept of singing and drumming. So the musicians are free to interpret as they are in a Batá while the arrangement frames the performance. This idea was perceived by a musician from Europe who knows and loves African and Cuban folklore. On ORI BATÁ, artists from Cuba, Germany and New York join in a synthesis of ancestral and modern music that may be a first step towards re-evaluating the Yoruba folklore heritage of Latin music and confirms its universal value.
