Interval (2015_02)

"Interval" is a +2 hour genre progressing mix that begins with smooth progressive house @118/120 bpm, gradually builds to tech/trance house @124bpm plunges into the deeper & darker side of tech-house, and then finishes upbeat in a trance finale @ 128bpm. The mix is bookended by two more somber & reflective tracks; the opener is a local folk cover (to Philladelphia) of Turn!Turn!Turn! by Found Wandering. Their rendition is progressively layered, and the timeless lyrics of the song (Ecclesiastes 3), beautifully sung, address themes that I feel the music in the mix explore. Olafur Arnalds' "Only the Wind" closes with a wistful and melancholic vibe to re-ground the listener; Winters, of season and personal, are intervals through which we all must pass and the only certain thing is that there will be change in the turns ahead.
