On tonight's Swing Time I preview the new Fashion on the Ration expo at the Imperial War Museum, a new exhibition showing how clothing was rationed during the Second World War, including the invention of the onesie!
I also feature a small vignette on Ken Snakehips Johnson the extremely talented jazz band leader from British Guiana who quit a promising career in medicine to pursue his love of music.
He soon struck a cord with the British public and at the outbreak of WW2 landed the lucrative resident band spot at the Cafe' de Paris in London's West End. Sadly on 8th March 1941 Ken was killed when two bombs crashed into the nightclub and exploded, killing 34 and injuring another 80.
