A selection of ‘golden era’ Roots gems, feat. many of the greats, with the likes of Gregory, Max Romeo, Jr Murvin, Abbyssinians, Crown Prince, E Dunkley and F McKay. Featuring some classical riddims like 'little way different' (original cut featured here, much deeper than the more commonly known Bovell cut IMO- saddly LP only as far as I know), ‘foot of the mountain’ (Impact!) & Glen Brown’s ‘opportunity rock’ (Pantomine). Safe, risk-free selection here, but ‘a no nutt’n wrong with dat’ now & again, all these cuts are special to me. A mix of Roots classics (with a deep edge still!) & slightly less rinsed-out heavy weights in the middle segment like the total killer and surprisingly underrated African Bros ‘Still Tongue’ followed by similar bass vibe cuts like the deep Roots ‘Babylonians’ (Observer) and ‘Black harmony’ riddim (Wackie’s). Outro on one of the most melodic bass lines of all times… the classic Opportunity Rock riddim with a few cuts featured. Dubs featured where available.
