RAD 1996 Mix

RAD 1996 Mix is a glorious snapshot of a year when alternative rock ruled the airwaves, electronica was beaming in from the future, R&B was impossibly smooth, and pop could still surprise you. It moves from the cinematic pulse of Mission: Impossible and the dreamy atmospheres of Enigma, Dead Can Dance, and Secret Garden into Orbital and The Future Sound of London, then crashes headfirst into Bush, Soundgarden, Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, No Doubt, Alanis Morissette, and the glorious mid-’90s alternative-radio universe. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Keith Sweat, and Toni Braxton bring the late-night groove, while Tracy Chapman, Natalie Merchant, Mazzy Star, Wilco, and Dave Matthews Band provide the introspective comedown. And because it’s 1996, naturally Macarena shows up like an uninvited guest who somehow becomes the life of the party. Thirty tracks of guitars, beats, atmosphere, angst, romance, and beautiful musical chaos—this is 1996 with the dial spinning.
