Beyond 3

The mix-series „beyond“ presents music that could be described as „hypnotic“, „trance inducing“ or „ritualist“.

This compilation focuses on rock music (recorded in Lebanon, France, Chile, Finland, USA and Sweden) where the elements of repetition, distortion and loudness play an important role. Exactly this elements can be found in a lot of traditional or contemporary music in very different contexts, from trance rituals to psychedelic concerts in many places around the globe.

An interesting example are the contemporary forms of „Djinafoli“ rituals in Mali (they are blossoming in citys like Bamako and Kayes). Broken amplifiers turned up to the maximum volume and permanent sounds of feedback produced by the microphone of the singer seem to be a part most welcome for helping to overflow the senses and help the „incorporation trance“ to happen.
