Love this. Here's another dope mix on a similar vibe. https://m.mixcloud.com/DJ_T1M/sunday-morning-selector/
Thank you! I'll definitely give that show a listen!
and the dutty piano continues into Broken Language, swish man swish.
Thank you, sir!
Loooove that N.W.A joint
I love how into the old school hip hop you are!
Never even considered that the Smoothe Da Hustler cut had gotten to "The Message" as well. A favorite Brass Construction cut of mine. That entire Side 2 of Brass Construction II is masterfully sequenced, from "The Message" to "Now Is Tomorrow" to "Blame It On Me" to "What's On Your Mind." Not a skip track in the bunch.
p.s. If I ever got picked to put together one of those Back To Mine or Late Night Tales compilations, "Blame It On Me" has a good chance of being my closing cut. A guy can dream...
I love Brass Construction, as well! Luckily enough, I've been able to find a couple of their releases on vinyl for inexpensive prices. I think you and www.mixcloud.com/lafabrock/ might be two DJs I would nominate first to do a "Late Night..." compilation.
Funny cos I'm a big Four Tet fan and I listened to that album a thousand times. Yet I cound't recognize the track. I assume it was a special version... Great move and picking this anyways !
I was actually thinking about you when I picked that track! Is it an alternate version? I'll have to do some digging and see exactly where it came from.
Oh yeah, there's an article about the mural in Vulture ! http://www.vulture.com/2017/07/who-defaced-prodigy-of-mobb-deeps-mural-and-why.html
"Interviewed on YouTube by Gully TV, former Prodigy affiliate Mike Delorean related that the defacement of P’s mural after his death came at the hands of Queensbridge natives he had insulted and otherwise dishonored during his life. Though respectful of Prodigy’s accomplishments, Delorean himself was hardly on the best terms with Prodigy, due to business disputes and personal statements made in P’s autobiography. According to Delorean, others, holding even deeper grudges, were responsible for splattering the mural with paint. “He scarred some people personally. … He talked badly about people … in jail. People who embraced him.” The mural can’t stand in Queensbridge, a neighborhood “where the people who he disrespected have kids that will see it every day.”"

Interesting! That's the first piece I've seen on the actual details of it.

Is it really? I connected with those guys earlier in the year, but it didn't pan out. I'm in the middle of looking for a new house, so maybe once that gets settled down I can hook back up with them.
