FreakOuternational

FreakOuternational is a collection of recent founds and new promotional releases. It kicks of with Sun Ra's trip to Heliopolis / Egypt in 1983 and some quality jazz re-issues, it takes us to Colombia, Nueva York and Western Africa, where we dip into the stream of current releases by Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars, Antibalas, Re-Issues by The Funkees and Nguenang and a great palenque compilation by Soul Jazz. In the last half we hear some bands we are looking forward to see in Berlin soon: Jagwa Music from Dar es Salaam, Bola from Bolgatanga, and Ondatrópica, Quantic's and Mario Galeano's massive cumbia celebration. Analogik played one of the best concerts this year at Festsaal, and Los Transatlanticos were formed and produced here, so it's a real Berliner Kindl. Indian psychrockers Atomic Forest show the way to what i hope will be up here as volume 2 very soon. The last word, however, has the Monk.
