Doubleheader!

Hi all,

Since I took a wee break before posting another show yesterday, I thought I'd upload another one for you today!

You'll enjoy the mix of traditional roots and classical style in some stunning performances on this show: Classically Celtic. Some of our favourite guitarists Tony McManus, Pierre Bensusan, and Al Petteway (so many stringed things!) are joined by gorgeous voices that match the mood - Jean Redpath, Anúna - and a couple of Irish orchestras will build out the sound.

The playlist also includes music from a Scottish teacher and performer who composed new music to straddle folk and classical traditions. Patsy Reid was the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship, and at 17 she was a finalist in the original BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award. Her composition 'Bridging the Gap' was commissioned in 2008 by the Celtic Connections Festival's New Voices series. The performance received glowing reviews so it was into the studio to record it, and this CD release found its way onto The Thistle & Shamrock in 2010. Patsy Reid's original melodies on the seven modern modes of music (Ionian, Dorion, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and Locrian) has fabulous character and colour, living up to the promise of her work: she seamlessly bridged the gap between folk and classical music.

More to come soon! Follow my channel so you won't miss any new uploads. Keep streaming and share with your pals!
