Emma grew up assuming that everyone’s imagination worked like hers: blank, hazy and formless. It wasn’t until her teenage years, when she stumbled across a YouTube video called: ‘I have APHANTASIA (and you may too...without realising it!)’ that she discovered the truth: most people can see images with their mind’s eye, whilst she cannot. She is among the estimated 2% of the population with aphantasia, a little-known neurological trait that prevents the visualization of mental images.
