Businesses, utilities and government agencies are in critical need of protection from rising cyberattacks. While the demand for skilled cybersecurity workers has never been higher, more than 3 million jobs are currently unfilled worldwide. What can be done to fill the gap? In secondary schools, an increasing number of students are enrolled in courses that can lay the foundation for a future career in cybersecurity. Mamatha Raghunath, Arlington Career Center Cybersecurity Instructor, and Arlington Tech students Graham Rogers and Rotha Gould discuss their hands-on projects, in which the students learn how to build their own computer networks, analyze them for vulnerabilities, and secure them from attack.
