In Thinking Out Loud, Ciara is joined by friends Ryan, Sheema & producer Regan to revisit some of the themes touched during the public discussion the artist ran in conjunction with the exhibition Out of the strong, came forth sweetness curated by Brian Teeling for the 30th anniversary of the Gay Health Network
The discussion Queerness & Transgression: Deviance + Radicalism in Queer Identity Now and this one, draws on the idea of thinking things out together to socially construct knowledge. Among coconut creams, baked feta & the requisite scarf-covered lamp, the gang question the centrality of deviance to queer identity, aesthetic treachery of online LGBTQIA+ representation, leveraging of queerness as a means of accessing capital, the privileging of whiteness in queer spaces & culture, & what we owe to both our histories & potential futures
