Opens with a haunting tune from Guadalcanal. then into various takes on modern African music:
Mina (UK) - her joyous take on African dancehall.
Clap! Clap! (Italy) - blending heavy beats, tribal samples and house (I meant to edit out the housy bits, sorry).
Still (Italy) - an arty of allegedly African influenced twisted beats. Can't really hear Africa in this one but hard to say no to that fractured darkness.
Bad Zu (Russia) - Moscow Gqom
Umoja/K.O.G (Netherlands, UK/Ghana) - African danchall
Scratca DVA and Randomer - percussive off cuts from the UK
And then we have some Shanghai intensity from 33EMYBW and Sonia Calico.
And there's some real African music in there somewhere - an uncharacteristically dark track from Diron Animal, and to finish on a bright note Kenyan Guitar from W. John Ondolo and some wonderful Zimbabwean gospel from Machanic Manyeruke & The Puritans.
