It turns out, I’m your secret santa! I made you a little mixtape of Brazilian popular music, known there as “Música Popular Brasileira,” or MPB for short. In the early 1970s there was a super vibrant scene of young artists from all over Brazil coming down to the big cities on the coast and recording these amazing albums that nobody in the US really knows about. I love this music not because it’s obscure, but rather because it’s really beautiful. These songs are about heartbreak and love, about being young and growing up, about all facets of life. I hope you like them.
