My name is Donwill.

I don't know how much you know about me but I am a rapper/producer and a member of the group Tanya Morgan. I support myself by working as a DJ. Being a working musician of any sort is not a glamorous endeavor, and I've doubled down on the indie hustle by choosing to be a DJ to fund my career as a rapper/producer. The combination seemed to work very well together, or at least they did until March 13th 2020.

That's the day that NYC's shelter in place started looming and all of my work as a DJ in public spaces effectively stopped. It's the day that I reluctantly had to try and figure out what working from home as a DJ looked like. Live streaming DJ sets are not new by any means but now they are the only option. Thanks to my career as a recording artist I happened to have most of the gear I needed laying around my home studio. The weeks following that day have been a non stop crash course in creating video content, content I never really even wanted to create. But oddly enough all of this has been more of a positive than a negative for me. I have learned a lot about new platforms and video production. I also think that I have figured out a plan for how to deploy all of these things that I've learned as well, which brings us here, to Mixcloud.

This is the place where I've always uploaded my favorite mixes and it is now the place where I'll be able to do live mixes as well. It's a place where I don't have to break copyright laws to DJ and can instead properly support the artists I am playing as well as give you, the listener the chance to actively support me at the same time. It's the most fitting home of any platform for my DJ mixes and I'm pretty excited to break the seal on it. I'm currently working on a show schedule for regular mixes as well as a few exclusive and themed mixes. Also as per the '001' in the title of this entry suggests it is also a place where I will journal and talk about my life and career as a DJ.

I've got big plans for this place and I'm excited that you'll be taking this journey with me!
