In 1999, while a Freshman at Pitzer College, I began heading out with my friends to some of Southern California's infamous desert parties, raves that gave rise to a slew of creative musicians and artists whether they were there as artists or for the experience. Many of the artists, like myself, have gone on to pour their passion into social change & media
work while crafting jams & mixes, and some have carved a tremendous name for themselves, e.g. Charlie from Soul Clap, Christian Martin of Dirty Bird fame...Shortly after the first I went to, I picked up a copy of John Kelly's "High Desert Soundsystem" a sublime breaks mix that captured the feel of the desert nights at these terrifically endless parties.
In the same spirit, here I give you "SemiAridSoundSystem," a mix capturing the strange landscape of places like Joshua Tree as well as the spirit of those wild wilderness nights, dusks and dawns with sandy, dusky tech and deep house & a touch of breaks...Hope you love it. - D.C.E.

Tracklist

Playing tracks by Casah, Muska (AUS), Salla, Yan Brauer, The Hacker, Stan Kolev and more.

This was right up my alley. Great selections and mixing. I also have John Kelly's "High Desert Soundsystem" volumes 1 & 2. They were on heavy rotation in my middle teens. You definitely captured the essence with this set.

Thanks, brother. Those were great mixes and I'm honored that you feel the vibe and craft on SemiAridSoundSystem. Interestingly, I tried to Google Kelley and had a hard time finding him...wonder what he is up to these days...
