Buscrates gets his name from doing gigs around town in his native Pittsburgh area, literally hauling bags and crates of vinyl on public transportation. After years spent honing his production chops, he moved from being strictly a sample-based Hip Hop producer to a full fledged spaced out funkster, operating knobs and sliders on various analog synthesizers, in addition to programming drum machines. He is one-third of the funk outfit East Liberty Quarters, and one-half of duo Extra Medium. Since his relocation to Atlanta in 2012, he has put out a handful of projects, including a 7” with ELQ Rotating Souls Records, and his first solo effort, The Spectrum on Omega Supreme Records, both released in 2014. In 2015, he played in Canada; first in Montreal (Voyage Funktastique) and then in Toronto (Love Handle). In 2016 he's performed a live PA set at Beat Swap Meet Chicago and has seen appearances on two more 7” releases: Kutcorners & K-Maxx's Need 2 Know, and a split release with Quadrant 77.
