About the show
Playing tracks by
Jaguar, Peggy Lee Meets the Beastie Boys, Obie Trice Vs Herman Kelly, KRS1 vs DJ Spinbad , Greyboy freaturing Quantic & Sharon Jones and more.
I was asked to play at a fund-raiser for the charity Action-Aid at Cargo, London in the summer of 2004, which was the start of a beautiful relationship which led to me playing for them at the Reading Festival 2004 through 2007. In an effort to further raise funds I put this mix together, and copies of the CD were given away for donations at the event in hand-made fabric sleeves, and by word of mouth many more copies were snapped up afterwards.
This mix features an unreleased track which I can't name for legal reasons, as well as a first version of my Beasties "Sure Shot" blend which went on to feature on ID-004 (We Love The Beastie Boys EP) in a much tidied-up state. Another exclusive is the Skalpel / The Streets blend, which I never properly finished. This mix was programmed & mixed in one evening, in something of a slapdash manner if the truth be told, on belt-driven turntables as that was all I had available on the day. You can actually hear the belt slipping on MC Lyte.
