Deep Squish DJ Set

Our first mix establishing our new downtempo sound mixed in the studio on two turntables. I experimented with some unique transitions to blend tracks at very different tempos by playing melodies from the incoming song on the pads using a chop and screw technique. Stretching notes and saturating with reverb to introduce them at the outgoing tracks tempo. Combined with some big tempo bending at the transition points the tracks remain dance-able at their original tempos. The result is a dreamy and ethereal blending of melodies rather than drums that dramatically fills the sonic space and then hollows it out before delicate introductions rather than big drops to help dancers find a deep softness.
