In the mid-70s in Italy there was committed music and commercial music. The two categories were waterproof, first of all in the minds of the boys. Inside committed music there were naturally singer-songwriters and pre-punk and pre-new wave rock music, in its most widespread articulations in Italy in the post-Beatles period, i.e. progressive, hard-rock (at the time it was called that which would later assumed the name of heavy metal) and west coast. Disco music was the quintessential commercial music. Dance music eluded reasoning, excluded the categories of right and wrong, made the body move before the head. Criticized by right-thinking politically engaged, for us sixteen-year-olds of the time it was the maximum escape, the absolute freedom to express what we felt... and it still is!!! Long live Disco!

It's not easy to have an evening at the console in Rome... and I realize that it's always worse to have a DJ set... the average musical culture goes from "Despacito" to "Gigi D'Agostino"... Everyone thinks they can suggest a piece that if played at that moment will change the evening... too bad maybe you're at 124 bpm and they'll tell you one that plays at 85 bpm... They tell you but you can put on something revival, when you're putting on Can't Take my eyes of you....then put on Franckie Knuckles and they don't even know who it is... They don't even realize that whoever plays the DJ knows what he's doing when he puts on a song... he knows he has to keep the track full for at least 4 hours... they come to you and ask you to show you what songs you have on your playlist ....learn to respect those who are working...yes, because being a DJ is a job...and those who do it have a slightly wider musical culture than those who listen to spotify....I'll spare you my thoughts about PRs who think they are art directors...😂
