The term "Boogie Woogie" has an uncertain origin, but was born between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century: various studies show how various words of African origin ("Bogi", "Mbuki", "Booga", "Mvuki") refer to the beating of drums or wild and fast dances and therefore can be considered the precursors of today's term; at the same time, moreover. Used at the beginning of the 20th century to indicate improvised parties that were organized to raise some money to pay the rent (rent parties), in which the musical accompaniment was entrusted to a pianist; in American slang the term "boogie" indicates the butt and the verb "to boogie" means to shake the butt, dance frenetically.
