You wouldn't know from my output on Dandelion, but I've been in a bit of a dry spell lately. No record shops in months and hadn't bought anything off Bandcamp for weeks. This show marks a turning point - the return of an immense thirst, accidental ephipanies, unmeditated discovery. The Gotobeds provide fire and an impetus; Quimper and Marta Mist provide fantastic backdrops; Pikelet offers herself, honesty and wizardry merging into one serene broadcast from a distant horizon.
On the lighter side, we have a silly pun from Mister Lettuce, wonky gypsy jazz from Vienna Ditto, and something I can't even put my finger on from Adult Jazz; on the abstract side we have Cage-like compositions from Adam Asnan, a hushed household from Deux Filles. And, of course, the usual melange of scuzzy amateurs (Man Up Yancey), established stalwarts and face-flattening noise (Triage). And while I've rigidly avoided backward gazing in the past, a reissue of Boris's Pink was too almighty to ignore.
