THIS IS THE FIRST DREIKLANG RADIO SHOW ON RED RADIO.
The first show tries to deal with the concept of soundscape and the different forms of what actually constitutes a soundscape. Inspired by the experimental electronica music of the north Scottish duo BOARDS OF CANADA and their attempt to capture unique atmospheres - which are represented in their music videos with sequences from Joe Kittinger's baloon jump from the stratosphere in 1960 - the show presents several artists that work with electronic music in a perhaps unexpected way: ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER (NY, USA), FOUR TET (UK), GOLD PANDA (UK), MICROSEQ (NL), TEEBS (CA, USA).
Arguably the definition and perception of soundscapes has developed from its initial articulation by the WORLD SOUNDSCAPE PROJECT under Murray Schafer at the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver in the late 1960ʼs to not only encompass natural sounds but also artificially produced and manipulated electronic "art" music.
