For the past 20+ years, Instagram Pier was my go-to place to enjoy the sunset as it’s so near to my flat. I’ve seen literally hundreds of sunsets there and it seemed to be the appropriate place to do a Jose Padilla tribute mix as his music has been the backdrop to pretty much every sunset I’ve enjoyed since the 90’s when the seminal Café del Mar compilation series came out.
After he died, I realised that I owned pretty much everything he’s ever put out. His music, or music he’s introduced me to, has been behind pretty much every sunset I’ve ever enjoyed or DJ’d to since the 1990’s.
He made a substantial contribution to the history of modern music, so I wanted to do a mix to honour him and I’m pretty happy with this one. Once again, we were treated to another epic sunset!
