This is part of a mix that I put together for an event I recently DJ'd. The songs chosen represent how I feel about the times we live in, from the nostalgia for the conscious old-school vibes of Lauryn Hill and Public Enemy, to the new school rabble-rousing of MIA, and the genre pushing anthems of FKA Twigs.
I also included odes to the TURN-UP, because you can't be serious all the time (Souja Boy Tellem, 112). And of course, you can't call a mix Zeitgeist without including the spirit of the times herself: Beyonce.
There's even a song about the end of the world!
