Touching bass - A Tribute to George Ford
Born George Sweetnam-Ford, George and his half-brothers Emile and Dave enjoyed early 1960s hits as Emile Ford and the Checkmates. He then pioneered two classic 1960s albums by the Ferris Wheel, with singers Diane Ferraz and Linda Lewis, contributed to hits 1970s acts Medicine Head, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel and Al Stewart, and worked with Welsh singer-songwriter Meic Stevens, American gospel diva Doris Troy, composer Peter Skellern, Brit idols the Shadows and blues legend Long John Baldry. Sadly, George passed away in 2007, but he left a legacy of incredibly varied work, a small part of which is found on this special podcast. Featuring: Emile Ford & the Checkmates, The Ferris Wheel with Diane Ferraz & Linda Lewis, Meic Stevens, Doris Troy & the Gospel Truth, Medicine Head, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Peter Skellern, Al Stewart, The Shadows and Long John Baldry
