Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band recorded this funk anthem way back in 1970 and a group from Compton would find inspiration to record their own version in 1989. It is with this spirit of 'being yourself' that I present this mix. Another group from the midwest proclaimed "If you've got soul, then you're super bad." From this "Soulful Proclamation," we move to the Kashmere Stage Band's version of "Super Bad," and Lyn Collins follows with the Isaac Hayes masterpiece "Do Your Thing." Little Man & The Inquires bring the "Funky Breakdown" before moving to Orgone's incredible take on Rufus Thomas' classic "Breakdown." Staying down south we get the grits & gravy organ funk of the Bar-Kays' "Humpin,'" before the funky breaks of James Brown & Funk Inc. To find out what else is here, you'll just have to give it a listen! You might just discover some rare Mexican funk, a Japanese cover of Kool & The Gang, and some rare funk from Florida...
