This week's practice is inspired by Zen's radical expansion of leave-no-trace wilderness ethics to include the totality of one's lived experience. It's a useful concept to keep in mind when clearing out storage spaces full of the unused things that I've carted back and forth across the country over the last 20 years. It's the realization that maybe nobody is going to want most of your stuff, after you die, and that all cleaning is death cleaning.
