Welcome to CHEZ #006, which has a church-like feel this month - we're washing away our sins after the razz of December, and beginning 2024 with a healing starter of Southern gospel, astral jazz and Yoruba drums.
Our second act is a triptych painting of Black American life circa 1970, courtesy of pastors Mayfield, Hathaway and Withers.
And finally, as the disco ball descends from the steeple, we kick the pews against the wall and make room for some liberating disco and boogie in the mix to see us out.
