This sound piece accompanies Ibrahim Quraishi’s video RADIUS on show at Lumen Travo Gallery, Amsterdam | 21.2.–21.3.2025, exploring drones and war. The main loop runs 1 hour and 5 minutes, repeating seven times with subtle variations. A hidden track emerges at 7 hours and 28 minutes, extending the piece to 7 hours, 35 minutes, and 43 seconds.

The composition blends original video sounds, personal field recordings, and reworked wind instruments like organ and human voice, alongside church choirs and sacral singers from various sources. It also alludes to surveillance systems, reflecting the traumatic sonic imprints of war, terror, and control. In moments of fear or deep memory, sound and scent exert the strongest hold.

While Proust’s Madeleine evokes nostalgia, war’s sounds brutally drag the subject into the present. In a world saturated with images, acoustic memory remains a disruptive force. The piece integrates the constant hum of blowers keeping the inflatable structure aloft.
