Halloween 2015

Bit late! I thought I'd celebrate RL Grime's Halloween IX mix this year with a little throwback. This set was my first ever live performance as a DJ, a Halloween house party!

At the time I was clearly inspired by RL Grime's Halloween IV and his other performances from 2015, I think at the time it was one of those first moments where it clicked for me that DJ'ing isn't just about mixing two songs together, it's about telling a story and taking people on a journey and RL Grime was one of the few acts that managed to combine visuals and music in a way that was super impactful. At the time no one was mixing tracks like he was and I think it was really one of my greatest inspirations when I was first starting out.

Full of strange tempo changes and key mashing but blame 17 year old me..

So this is a bit of a throwback celebration both for myself and to recognise how far I've come, but also a reminder of where I want to be. Enjoy!

Performed live on a Traktor Kontrol S2, October 2015.
