Covers

It was the UK Subs who first demonstrated to me the power of a great cover version.

For years I did not know that She's Not There was a cover but when I found the original by the Zombies neither version was diminished by the discovery.

I've been meaning to put this mix together for a while and once I got started it turned into a five hour marathon stream of consciousness.

All through the mix the cover version comes first followed by the original. All are great tracks in their own right.

Not every track in this mix is a straight cover. Some I'd class as influences and inspirations.

Change by Killing Joke is one of my favourite songs ever. Its rhythmic similarity to Me And Baby Brother by War brings me nothing but joy. No criticism is implied by my placing them side by side.
