Hi again...
I choose Tonglen Mindset as the name because of the terrible earthquake that occured in Nepal, where many of my closest friends live or study. Terrible to think of the devastating state the country and people are now in, already being so extremly poor. Over 5000 people where killed and many thousand left homeless. So sad....
Tonglen is Tibetan for 'giving and taking', and refers to a meditation practice found in Tibetan Buddhism. In the practice, one visualizes taking onto oneself the suffering of others on the in-breath, and on the out-breath giving happiness and success to all sentient beings. As such it is a training in altruism.Tonglen Mindset is a way of life, so much needed in our world today.
The intro and outro of this set are two very nice songs full of wisdom with Sogyal Rinpoche a well known Tibetan Master.
In between are stunning tracks: progressive, deep and just awesome...

This was an excellent set, Alec. This has a very retrospective feel which works to convey your set inspiration. The beauty is in the construction and selections. Very deep and thought provoking with nicely formed soundscapes. I enjoyed it a lot. The people of Nepal are in our thoughts - it's truly tragic and serves as a reminder of all the natural dangers that exist on this beautiful planet. It almost makes us seem insignificant on a grander scale.
