SWANG SWANG SWANG!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a rapper, and I've been Djing for as long as I've been rapping, for beats purposes at first (B-sides for instrumentals). But I learned to freestyle just watching my guitarist friend Benjamin Belleville who could play most of Django Reinhardt's stuff (gypsy guitar, technical as HELL) He told me about those freestyle techniques from music school he was learning. I didn't know you could actually learn to freestyle, or improvise as they say. So here I was, 16 years of age, and watching my friend "freestyle" on his acoustic guitar. Like all things in life, THERE IS structure, even in complete chaos. That's how I learned to freestyle on the microphone (sounds crazy isn't it?) just watching him play.
I fell in love with swing, jazz and gypsy, naturally.
