Since a week, a small area in Kreuzberg, Berlin has been cordoned off by 1000 Police officers and riot teams, surrounding a former school adapted into a refugee camp, housing over 200 asylum seekers and Romanis for the last two years. A week ago, the local council gave the order to evict the building, promising inhabitants alternative accommodation elsewhere, however this promise was not kept on the grounds that many of the inhabitants did not hold sufficient papers. Inside the school a group of refugees and activists have refused to leave the building and moved to the roof, threatening to jump off it or set themselves on fire if police attempt to evict them in fear of deportation.
