There is space at the beginning. A wide space. Pads move through it and the rhythm begins to show itself beneath them before the kick arrives and the journey starts in earnest. Chemical Hangover does not hurry it. Flashes of disco surface in the synth work while the "Yes I want" vocal returns throughout, sometimes leading and sometimes becoming another piece of the rhythm. Shakers, hand drums and conga-like percussion give the groove warmth while small sounds answer one another across the mix. It is deep and moody music, but there is playfulness inside it. Near the end, an acid bass emerges and changes the complexion of the track, making things stranger and a little dirtier without disturbing the flow. As the opening statement of the release, it tells you enough. The rest is waiting.
