shaker begins. The kick follows. Then things become strange. Chemical Hangover fills Deepa with synthesizers that wobble, rise, bend and wander across the stereo field. Some remain distant while others pass close to the ear before slipping away again. Risers pull the arrangement upward while a deep, brooding bassline waits underneath it all. Clicks and small percussive details maintain the foundation while the sound design is allowed to misbehave around them. Deepa moves forward, backward and sideways, climbing and falling as new sounds emerge from unlikely places. There is always another detail hiding somewhere in the mix, yet the groove underneath never disappears. For all its psychedelic character, the track remains remarkably calm. There is no need to overwhelm the listener when the stranger path is more interesting.
