Éanna Dowling interviews pianist Ivan Illic ahead of his concert at St Mary's Collegiate Church in Youghal on May 21st. Ivan talks about his approach to engaging with his audience, the skills needed to make a career in Classical music and the working conditions of 18th century musicians. He refers to Beethoven, Haydn and their contemporary Antoine Reicha, a little known composer from Bohemia who features in Ivan's repertoire.
