Episode 1 is in some ways the most important episode I put up. I started collecting my own music in around 1983. I started by buying the Beatles 'red', 'white' and 'blue' albums on tape from a guy at school. And then through the influence of my mum and dad's music collection and my black sheep uncle's massive and extremely diverse music collection, I set about making my own extremely 'diverse' music collection.
As most teenagers have at some point thought (at least in the days when radio mattered), I wished I had my own radio show to play and share my very obviously, cooler music choices with the unwashed masses. Of course who actually gets to do that for a living and more importantly, who actually gets to play the music they WANT to play without interference?
So the time came when I accidentally discovered a platform online for legally playing and inflicting my own self described cool picks with sometimes accurate info-imparting by word of mouth and here I am with my own program PARADISE OVERGROUND to do the aforementioned thing that I said just now...
I always maintain that every episode is important because I don't play the same recording more than once. So something different every time.
And I wanted to make a strong start with this endeavor so I very carefully curated the track list and sequencing, as I do for every episode, to set the template for every program to follow.
So please check out episode 1 and hear the cool extremes that I start to investigate through the course of this program's history. And because nothing is really time sensitive, dip into any episode at any time and get exposed to the full spectrum of sound that I want to display over the.... ages.
PARADISE OVERGROUND. NOT The Same 40 Songs Over and Over Again.
